TopStep Custom Insoles
St. Lawrence University is proud to partner with Top Step Custom Insoles to bring you customized insoles, sock-liners and orthotics using sidas and podiatech technology that supports your feet!
Once you complete your purchase, you will be contacted to set up a time to complete an impression of your feet in a mold. We will ship the impression out, and you'll receive your customized insoles in about 2 weeks, which you can pick up at SLU.
Custom insoles (also called orthotics) can provide a wide range of benefits depending on your body, activity level, and any existing issues. Here’s a breakdown of the main advantages:
Improved alignment – Helps position the feet, ankles, and knees in a more natural alignment, reducing strain throughout the kinetic chain.
Arch support – Especially helpful for flat feet, high arches, or uneven arches to prevent collapse or overloading.
Shock absorption – Reduces impact on joints during walking, running, or standing for long hours.
Reduces common pain – Can relieve plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, knee pain, and even some lower back pain.
Prevents overuse injuries – By distributing pressure more evenly across the foot and correcting mechanics.
Reduces calluses, corns, and bunions – Since pressure is spread out more evenly.
Better efficiency – Proper foot alignment can improve stride mechanics for walking, running, or sports.
Greater comfort – Especially when standing or walking for long periods (teachers, nurses, athletes, workers on their feet all day).
Energy return – Some orthotics are designed to improve propulsion by stabilizing the foot during push-off.
Tailored fit – Unlike store-bought inserts, custom insoles are molded to your exact foot shape, pressure distribution, and gait pattern.
Condition-specific – They can be designed for flat feet, diabetic foot care, arthritis, or sport-specific needs (running, cycling, skiing).
Long-term durability – Typically last longer than generic insoles and maintain support over time.
